Why Shouldn’t You Mix Tomatoes and Cucumber in a Salad

The main reasons why doctors strictly forbid this combination is because each of these vegetables has different digestion time. Hence, according to Ayurveda, we should know the correct digestion time of every food we eat before combining together. For instance, when we combine ingredients which have a fast and slow digestion, it means that one of the foods will be processed faster, while the other ingredient will result in the fermentation of the food in your belly. This can be detrimental to your health and body.

Moreover, when combining foods with different digestion time, they will moderate absorption and maturation of sugars and starches. Thus, this won’t permit you to make the most of your supper. Additionally, due to the fermentation process in your belly, you are likely to experience gas, swelling and torment in the stomach and intestinal issues. Therefore, make sure you never combine tomatoes and cucumbers together.

Other Combinations That Should Be Avoided

In addition to tomatoes and cucumbers, there are some other food combinations you should never try:

Mac and Cheese

This is one of the most popular meals in the USA. However, this combo should be avoided because macaroni are rich are starch, which has a different digestion time than protein. Hence, the delay will lead to fermentation and other digestive problems.

Meat and Cheese

Meat and cheese combo is quite common, especially in an omelet. However, you should avoid having too much protein in the same dish. Make sure you eat only one type of protein per meal.

Fruit After Meals

This is another combination which isn’t recommended. This is so because fruits need a lot of time to be digested. Thus, eating them after a meal will result in “wine” in your stomach. This can trigger acid reflux and other digestive issues.
